My artistic approach blends the aesthetics of Op-art and kinetic art. I am a Belgian artist born in Liège and based in Brussels.
My work is a very personal research, at the crossroads between science and art. I like to explore, research, experiment, and try to understand how our world works, the things and phenomena that surround us. For me, art is similar to fundamental research into the nature of reality. I draw inspiration from common phenomena of everyday life to bring out their extra-ordinary properties.
Over the years, I have conducted in-depth research into optics, pigments, fluorescence, UV light, and cathode ray tube technologies for tv screens. Based on the results of my research and experiments, I developed my own printing technique called ‘RGB Printing’. This technique allows me to create works of art made of structured moires that I animate using electronics and UV light. The result is a work that seems to go beyond its frame, which circumvents the rules of printing and appears like a screen.
Beyond the technical challenges inherent to my approach, what motivates me is to arouse the curiosity of spectators by challenging and questioning our conditioned perception of reality.
